내 작업은 자연의 기본요소를 다룬다.
풍경속에서 선택된 어떤 일부분을 인공광으로 분리해 내었을 때, 풍경은 정물화(靜物化)된다. 있는 그대로의 사물, 혹은 풍경의 어느 부분을 조명이라는 조건에 의해 순간적으로 풍경으로부터 분리해낸다는 것은 ‘보다’라는 시각 행위의 능동적 활동을 뜻한다. 조명의 조건을 선택해 가는 동안 풍경은 능동적으로 제어되고 재구성된다.
이 방식은 곧 주체적인 행위자로서의 삶에 대한 나의 인식과 태도이기도 하다.
